Georgia rose to No. 1 in the Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday after beating No. 6 Alabama 20-17 on the road Saturday night.

It's the Bulldogs' first No. 1 ranking since the opening weeks of the 2024 season. Previous No. 1 Texas lost 27-24 to Oklahoma on Saturday.

Georgia also moved to No. 1 in the coaches poll.

Alabama faces a likely NCAA fine after its fans threw bottles and cans at Georgia players after the loss.

President Trump approved a federal emergency declaration for 76 Georgia counties after remnants of tropical storm Isaias toppled trees and power lines.

Suspected tornadoes hit Screven and Burke counties, with at least four buildings destroyed or damaged on a farm along Story Mill Road between Hephzibah and Waynesboro. No injuries were reported.

In Tucker, Andrea Corbett was asleep when a tree crashed through the front of her home around 3 a.m. Saturday as Isaias' outer bands lashed metro Atlanta.

Power outages across the state fell from more than 125,000 to about 9,500 by late Saturday night. FEMA announced disaster declarations for Florida and Alabama ahead of the hurricane's landfall.

Georgians can cast ballots starting Tuesday as in-person early voting opens statewide for the Nov. 3 general election, topped by races for governor and the U.S. Senate.

Early voting runs through Oct. 30, with Saturday voting available this Saturday and Oct. 24. Counties may add Sunday hours, and voters can use any early-voting site in their county.

Ballots include three constitutional amendments: expanding a farmland tax break to properties of up to 4,000 acres, requiring nonpartisan elections for probate judges, and creating a dedicated fund for 911 upgrades.
