Good Morning! On this day in 1938, Houston-born Howard Hughes took off from New York on his record-setting flight around the world. He circled the globe in just 91 hours. We asked a few days ago how you stay cool during the dog days of a Texas summer. Answers ranged from remaining mentally tough to hanging out in the beer cooler at the convenience store to escaping to faraway mountains. The most common answer involved some form of "reverse hibernation" (our new favorite phrase), treating summer like winter by turning your house into an air-conditioned cave and hunkering down with your cold beverage of choice. As always, thanks for the emails! Hit reply any time to reach us. Today's Sponsor is giving readers an opportunity to invest in one of the fastest-growing sectors of the global economy. As demand for lithium accelerates thanks to AI, electric vehicles, and energy storage, EnergyX is positioning itself at the center of it all. With major backing already in place, individual investors still have a chance to get in before the July 16 investment deadline.

Faculty Groups Sue Texas Tech
Two faculty groups sued Texas Tech Chancellor Brandon Creighton and the university system's regents on Wednesday over rules restricting classroom instruction on race, sex, and gender identity. The federal suit, filed in El Paso by the American Association of University Professors and its Texas affiliate, challenges two memos requiring professors to submit course material on those topics for regents' review. It asks a judge to block enforcement across the five-campus system. The groups argue the rules violate the First and Fourteenth Amendments and discriminate against black faculty. "This is based on discrimination against populations that have ideas that the Chancellor finds to be disfavorable, and that is unconstitutional," said Antonio Ingram, an attorney on the case. The Texas Tech System said it is confident its policies are "lawful, constitutionally sound, and fully compliant with state and federal law." Creighton, a former state senator, has defended the reviews as keeping coursework relevant for the workforce. |
Talarico, Paxton Announce Q2 Fundraising Totals
State Rep. James Talarico raised more than $30 million for his U.S. Senate bid from April through June, more than triple the $9 million reported by Attorney General Ken Paxton. Talarico's campaign called it the largest second-quarter haul ever by a Senate candidate in an election year, pushing his total past $70 million from 780,000 contributors since September. The campaign said 97% of donations were $100 or less. Paxton's camp touted its total as the largest announced by any non-incumbent Republican Senate candidate this cycle, calling it a "clear signal that conservatives are rallying" behind him. Official reports identifying donors and cash on hand are due to the Federal Election Commission by July 15. Recent public polling shows the race essentially tied. |
Texas Secures $45M Cash App Settlement
Cash App parent Block, Inc. will pay $45 million to settle a 46-state investigation co-led by Texas into claims it misled users about fraud protections. Texas will receive nearly $5 million. Investigators said the company marketed the payment app as a safe, bank-like alternative while fraud outpaced its safeguards, leaving victims with no way to recover stolen funds. Within 30 days, Block must provide 24-hour customer support, simplify fraud reporting, and post scam warnings inside the app. A linked federal consent order requires consumer refunds of between $75 million and $120 million. "This settlement ensures that Texans who were harmed can recover what they are owed," Paxton said. Block denied wrongdoing, saying it settled solely to close the matter. |

Big Oil Just Bet Big on Lithium
Eni, Italy’s largest oil producer, just signed a strategic agreement to invest in EnergyX’s lithium project in Chile, a stake that could reach $225M. The project is expected to generate $1.3B in annual revenue at forecasted market prices.
It’s just one piece of EnergyX’s portfolio holding up to 15M+ tons of untapped lithium, and it’s the latest proof of their progress. Through July 16, you can invest as an early-stage shareholder and share in that growth.
EnergyX’s patented tech recovers up to 3X more lithium than traditional methods at 500X the speed. When combined with their resource portfolio, the road to commercial-scale production is clear. Lithium demand is projected to grow 5X by 2040, so the timing couldn’t be better.
General Motors and POSCO are already EnergyX shareholders. Now it’s your turn. Become an early-stage EnergyX shareholder before the July 16 deadline.
