The People Vs. Ken Paxton, Garcia Trounces Galindo In TX-35, Encouraging Redistricting Wins in AL & SCTexas Democratic Party Chair Kendall Scudder joins us live at 2pm ET today.....
Morning all. Lots of big news out of Texas this morning. Our good friend Kendall Scudder, Chair of the Texas Democratic Party, is joining us live to break it all down for us at 2pm ET. Join us by clicking here. Going to be a good one! Let’s start this action-packed morning with the video James Talarico put out last night after Ken Paxton crushed John Cornyn in their Senate run off. You can find it here, and above. Here’s the post of the video itself. Note the words and phrasing. What is likely to be the most competitive Senate race in over 30 years in Texas has begun. Here’s more from Team Talarico: To understand what’s coming here’s that famous ad Senate Republicans ran - yes Thune and co ran this ad - against Paxton: As I wrote to you last week anyone who thinks Trump is winning, or that Paxton winning is good for Trump, simply isn’t paying attention: The other big news from Texas last night is that Johnny Garcia beat GOP chaos candidate Maureen Galindo. Remember with the help of GOP dark money spending Galindo won more votes in the primary - so this is no small achievement. This community stepped up for Johnny Garcia in recent days, raising almost $25,000 to help him close strong. For more on Republican efforts to intervene in our House primaries watch my new interview with the DCCC’s Will Van Nuys. Similar Republican efforts to knock out our strongest primary candidates in districts we can win this November have been launched in CA-22 against Jasmeet Bains and NJ-7 against Rebecca Bennett in states that have primaries next week. Garcia and fellow Texan Bobby Pulido (TX-15) are part of our new Winning The House - Second Wave campaign that includes Bob Brooks (PA-07), Bob Harvie (PA-01), and Denise Powell (NE-02) too. To get a better understanding of our opportunities in Texas this year watch my recent interview with our good friend, Texas Democratic Party Chair Kendall Scudder. Chair Scudder was fresh from an encouraging March primary vote that saw more Democrats vote than Republicans for the first time in many, many decades: And for a live update come by at 2pm ET today as Chair Scudder will be reporting in on what has clearly become a year of opportunity for us in Texas. Click here to join us live at 2pm ET. You can support James Talarico by giving through our ActBlue page here; and support the Texas Democratic Party by giving to our Not-So-Audacious-Any-Longer Expansion Fund or by giving to the Texas Democrats directly. Redistricting Wins In Alabama and South Carolina - We take the wins when they come here at Hopium and yesterday we had meaningful wins in Alabama and South Carolina: Trump Drops To 34% For The First Time In Economist/YouGov - For the first time in his second term Trump hit 34% approval in the venerable Economist/YouGov weekly tracking poll this morning: And for the first time Trump hit -24 in the FiftyPlusOne job approval tracker today: Hopium paid subscribers gather tonight at 7pm ET (register here), and I look forward to seeing folks at 2pm ET today with the great Chair of the Texas Democratic Party, Kendall Scudder……. Keep working hard all. We have a country to save, and elections to win, together! - Simon You're currently a free subscriber to Hopium Chronicles By Simon Rosenberg.
