Pandas Arrive

Giant pandas Ping Ping and Fu Shuang arrived in Atlanta on Sunday, ending the city's nearly two-year absence of pandas.

The pandas will spend about a month in quarantine in a biosecure area of the zoo's new panda complex before making their public debut.

Both were born in 2020 at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, and their arrival revives a Zoo Atlanta partnership with China spanning more than 25 years.

The pair departed Chengdu over the weekend under a 10-year loan announced in April. Chinese President Xi Jinping confirmed the loan during his Washington, D.C., summit with President Trump.

12 Teens Shot in Midnight Fight

Twelve teenagers were shot at Carolyn Crayton Park in downtown Macon just after midnight Sunday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

The shootings took place during a dispute between groups, with multiple guns used. No arrests were immediately announced.

An 18-year-old and a 17-year-old were listed in critical condition, while the nine other victims were reported stable.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the sheriff's office as the investigation continues.

Rides and Games Hit Auction Block

Shuttered amusement park Fun Spot America is selling off everything from arcade games and go-karts to roller coasters in an online auction.

The Fayetteville park closed for good Aug. 2 after 36 years of operation under different names, beginning as Dixieland Fun Park in 1990.

The auction of more than 400 lots runs through Oct. 14 and includes bumper boats, a 50-foot drop ride, and the Hurricane roller coaster.

One ride not for sale is ArieForce One, the signature coaster Six Flags bought and plans to reopen at an undisclosed park in 2028 or 2029.
