I don’t believe life has any inherent meaning.
And yet, my life has never felt more full of purpose.
Nihilism gets a bad rap. But I don’t think it has to. In fact, I think it can be empowering.
Because if there’s no reason to do something that means there’s also no reason to NOT do something. It means there’s no universal referee, no grand script with my name on it. No cosmic scoreboard that says “Mark 1, Life 3.”
And because there’s no scoreboard, I get to decide what I’m playing for.
If nothing comes pre-labeled as meaningful, then meaning is something you get to mold and create. And when you choose to create that meaning, it makes it more powerful.
When I commit to a project, a relationship, or arguing with strangers on the internet, I’m not aligning with some universal truth—I’m deciding: this matters because I will make it matter.
If you’re sitting around waiting for meaning to show up, you’re wasting your life.
So stop waiting.
