Kaptur Released a Week after Crash

Rep. Marcy Kaptur was released from the hospital Sunday, one week after a driver struck her car in Toledo and fled the scene.

The crash happened Aug. 2 at West Central Avenue and North Detroit Avenue on the city's west side. The driver of the other vehicle left without stopping, and no arrest has been announced.

Kaptur, D, 9th District, is the longest-serving woman in the history of Congress.

She is going through physical rehabilitation now and expects to be back in Washington next month.

Trump Heads to Ashtabula County Today

President Trump will travel to Geneva today for the 2026 Patriot Games, a sporting competition created by his administration to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, the White House said.

“The 2026 Patriot Games is about more than competition, they're about the grit, character, and optimism that have carried America for over 250 years," said Danielle Alvarez, Freedom 250 spokesperson.

The three-day event is being hosted by SPIRE Academy in Geneva. At today's games, one male and one female competitor will be crowned champions. Each will earn a $125,000 scholarship.

Fairgoers Find $675K in Lost Money

Visitors to the Ohio State Fair turned up more than $675,000 in money the state was holding in their names.

The Ohio Department of Commerce's Division of Unclaimed Funds runs a booth at the fair every year, where fairgoers can look up their own names in the state's database.

The money comes from forgotten bank accounts, uncashed paychecks, utility deposits, and insurance payouts that companies hand over to the state after years of no activity.

Ohioans who missed the fair can search the same database online.
