| DeKalb County Schools Closure Update DeKalb County Schools has released the next scenario of its plan to close or consolidate a handful of schools as part of its response to declining enrollment across the district. Earlier this year, the district shared a list of 27 schools that might be closed or repurposed over the next six to eight years. Under the new proposal, three schools at risk of closure or repurposing have been added to the list, while two have been removed. The district currently has approximately 18,000 vacant seats across all grade levels. A final scenario will be released next month, with a decision expected in the fall. | New Professional Soccer Training Facility Approved The City of Marietta has approved a $21 million land deal with AMB Sports and Entertainment to build a headquarters and training facility on Franklin Gateway for the incoming National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) Atlanta team. The 38,000-square-foot facility, which will include four full soccer fields and two half-pitches, will span 33 acres. The facility is expected to be ready before the club makes its NWSL debut in 2028. Construction of the facility is expected to cost more than $100 million. The land was previously sold to IKEA several years ago, but was bought back by the city late last year. | Walmart Drone Delivery Service Expands in Atlanta Walmart has expanded its drone delivery service in metro Atlanta by opening six new drone hubs, doubling the number of locations. The new drone delivery nests have opened at store locations in Stockbridge, Snellville, Woodstock, and Lithonia. The service was first introduced to the area late last year, launching from six Walmart Supercenters throughout the metro area. The move is part of a broader national expansion, which will add the service to more than 150 Walmart stores across the U.S. this year. | |
| Flying together with our sponsor Georgia summers bring heat, humidity, and plenty of time outdoors. But when you sweat, your body loses more than just water. You also lose electrolytes that help regulate hydration and energy. LMNT is a zero-sugar electrolyte drink mix designed to help replenish those key minerals. Its formula includes sodium, potassium, and magnesium in ratios designed to support hydration without the sugar found in many traditional sports drinks. That’s why LMNT has become popular with athletes, runners, outdoor enthusiasts, and people who simply want to stay hydrated throughout the day. Many of us at The Flyover personally use LMNT regularly, especially as temperatures start climbing in the Southeast. Right now LMNT is offering Flyover readers a free sample pack with purchase so you can try a variety of flavors. See how it works here. | |
