Authorities have identified skeletal remains as belonging to Timothy Mitchell Williams, a Duluth man who had been missing since 2020.

Construction workers found the remains on Feb. 10, 2025, along State Route 316 and Duluth Highway in Lawrenceville.

Forensic genetic genealogy analysis led investigators to Williams' mother, whose DNA was used to confirm the identification.

The cause of death has not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The family of Beth Buchanan, a 23‑year‑old University of Georgia doctoral student who was killed in a wrong‑way DUI crash in 2023, has been awarded $56.5 million in damages by a judge.

Buchanan was driving her mother to the airport when another vehicle traveling the wrong way struck their vehicle, killing her and hospitalizing her mother.

The judge based the award on the number of years she was expected to live, assigning $1 million per year of lost life expectancy.

The suspected driver who collided with Buchanan’s car, Cesar Raudales Macias, remains a fugitive and is wanted for multiple charges, including first-degree vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
