And that's exactly why we created the MGMT Accelerator. |
If you spent even 5 minutes on social media this week, it felt like living in a Sci-Fi novel. |
AI Agents had created their own lobster-inspired social media platform (MoltBook). More than 1.5 million of them signed up in a week. They're organizing. Debating the role of humans. Contemplating the creation of languages humans can't understand. |
How much of it is truly autonomous vs human-prompted is subject of much debate, but it's certainly a reminder that AI is coming. |
And in some cases, it's coming for us. |
But we keep getting wrong whose job AI will take first. |
Blue collar jobs will be first. → Nope! ChatGPT gives accounting, law and medical advice. |
Creatives are safe. → MidJourney and Nano Banana would disagree. |
But I know whose job AI will take last: |
Managers |
Not all managers. Many of them will be easily replaced. Starting with the same 60% who've failed historically. |
But many of them are safe. |
It's the ones with three skills that make them virtually future-proof. |
Manager As Engineer |
For 100s of years, managers have combined people, process and technology into "machines" that produces value. We set goals. Allocate resources. Train people. Give them tools. Measure results. Make improvements. |
This is systems thinking. |
Engineers are exceptionally good at this. |
Successful managers do this, even unconsciously. This skill is only going to become more critical as more AI avatars become viable alternatives to their human counterparts. |
Manager As Connector |
As long as we have humans somewhere in that system, they will need guidance, accountability, encouragement and coaching. |
If you've called a bank or an airline for support, you know first hand how far we have to go for humans to get what they need from an AI counterpart. And those are simple requests. |
Do we really think the best people are going to put their careers into the hands of AI? |
Doubtful. |
Which means the leaders who can truly connect with people - those who understand their ambitions, who can see and unlock their potential, who genuinely care - will continue to be magnets for top talent. |
Manager As Leader |
If you're in a management position and not leading, you won't be in that position for long. This distinction has become a false choice. |
Managing is about control. Leading is about impact. Managing is doing things right. Leading is doing the right things. Managing is about stopping risk. Leading is about creating opportunity.
|
Nobody every said, "I want to be managed when I grow up." |
For managers to succeed, they must learn to lead. |
And anyone can. |
We have years of receipts: |
"This course exceeded my expectations in every dimension. The comprehensive curriculum covered essential topics while providing immediately actionable takeaways from each session. The real-world insights shared by experienced managers Mar and Dave proved invaluable to understanding practical leadership challenges. Engaging peer interactions throughout the course fostered both learning and networking opportunities, while the forward-thinking inclusion of AI as a management-support tool prepared us for the future of leadership. I highly recommend this program for both new and experienced managers looking to elevate their leadership capabilities." |
— Claire, Senior ops Manager, Amazon |
"Met a diverse group of managers and leaders, learned well-structured, comprehensive methods that benefits folks at all levels of leadership. Personally it helped me to think more about creating a stronger brand for myself around the work I do as a manager and leader." |
— Dev, Engineering Manager, Nvidia |
"It's clear throughout the class that Marsden and Dave really care about the students and their path to becoming better leaders. The lessons are well structured and effective, and each class comes with its own nugget, unlock, or tool for the future. There's also plenty of Q&A time to get feedback on your own burning work problems as well. Overall, a great experience!" |
— Larry, VP of Product, Tinder |
"Game-changer. I saved ~45 minutes every morning with AI-assisted workflows, improved occupancy execution with KPI-driven plans, and now make faster, clearer decisions. Practical tools > theory. Highly recommend." |
— Crystal, VP of Operations, Rise8 |
"Dave and Marsden care. On top of that care, they have a depth of professional experience to draw on plus the tools and frameworks to put their insight into practice. This was the first formal investment I have made in leadership after 3+ years leading high growth teams. Wish I had done it sooner!" |
— Sean, Business Development Manager, Finch |
The MGMT Accelerator is designed to help you build all three skills. |
AND the sustainable systems that support them. |
Timeless Principles |
We identified the timeless principles that worked for us at Google, Bridgewater, Moody's and Goldman Sachs. And we've now seen them deployed successfully but 1000s of leaders from the largest tech companies to the newest startups. |
Simple Systems |
We built and tested common sense frameworks and systems that help leaders set expectations, delegate work, deliver feedback, and drive performance. |
Amplified by AI |
We expanded on this foundation with AI prompts and tools that help you achieve more while doing less. You finally have the leverage to make good on your good intentions. |
Our February MGMT Accelerator is almost full. |
Many companies are taking advantage of the 20% discount for sending two or more people. |
We hope we'll see you on February 18th. |
Best, Dave & Mar |
PS - More than 80% of leaders get reimbursed by their company. We drafted a note you can copy and edit to make it as easy as possible for you. |
