Article Icon 1Two KSU Players Charged in Sports Betting Scheme

Two Kennesaw State University (KSU) basketball players—current player Simeon Cottle and former player Demond Robinson—have been accused of participating in an international sports betting and game-fixing scheme.

According to a federal indictment, over 39 NCAA Division I players from 17 schools were bribed by fixers to intentionally underperform in exchange for payments between $10,000 and $30,000.

Cottle, KSU's leading scorer, has been suspended indefinitely from the team.

Both of the players have been charged with bribery in sporting contests and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

A chemical fire at the Polynt Composites plant on 71 Barnett Road in Forest Park prompted an evacuation order for the surrounding area on Thursday.

No injuries were reported, and the order has since been lifted.

Officials said there were "no known respiratory-related concerns" related to the incident.

Authorities say the fire started from a chemical reaction inside the facility, and the cause remains under investigation.

The Atlanta Dogwood Festival is officially set to return to Piedmont Park from April 10-12 for its 90th anniversary, thanks to fundraising efforts and a new presenting partnership.

The festival, typically free, will charge an entrance fee of $5 for Friday and $10 for Saturday or Sunday.
