SpaceX is considering mergers with either Tesla or xAI ahead of its planned IPO later this year, according to reports that came out Thursday. All three companies are headed up by billionaire Elon Musk. "I think it's highly likely that (xAI) ends up with one of the two parties (Tesla or SpaceX)," said Tesla shareholder Gene Munster, who is managing partner at xAI investor Deepwater Asset Management. Meanwhile, SpaceX continued to reach new milestones, with Friday morning's launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station bringing the total of Starlink satellites to 11,000. | DeSantis Signs Third Death Warrant Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a death warrant on Thursday for Billy Leon Kearse, who was convicted of killing a Fort Pierce police officer during a 1991 traffic stop, setting an execution date of March 3. Kearse shot police officer Danny Parrish 13 times as he attempted to arrest him for driving without a valid license, according to documents filed with Florida's Supreme Court. A taxi driver in the area heard the shots and called for help. It's the third death warrant DeSantis has signed this year, after Florida set a record in 2025 with 19 executions. | Cold Weekend Expected in Florida A strong wind will bring Arctic air into Florida today and tomorrow, creating the potential to set record low temperatures. "It looks like temperatures across South Florida are dipping into the 30s (Fahrenheit) for most of the metro area and maybe into the 20s for areas near Lake Okeechobee. And then the windchill could make those temperatures feel even cooler," said Ana Torres-Vazquez, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Miami. Crop growers across South Florida are working to protect their plants, with Lara Farms Nursery in Southwest Miami-Dade using a special irrigation system to get their plants as healthy as possible ahead of the freeze.
