Hanover Weighs In, Lady Justice Stands, and New Troopers

FINAL HOURS! The Flyover Investment Round Closes Tomorrow

A few months ago, we set out on a mission: to offer ownership opportunities to our readers—now more than 4 million strong. You are one of those readers and we are incredibly grateful. Without you, we wouldn't be the company we are today.

But here's the deal: we have only hours left.

If you've been watching from the sidelines, now is the moment to step in and be one of the final investors in The Flyover. Together, we can finish strong.

Invest in The Flyover today

With only hours left, we want to answer one final question we hear most often from readers and potential investors:

How do I get a return on my investment?

We believe in being direct.

Like all investments, this carries risk. But here's what makes The Flyover different: we have already reached profitability after just two years. That puts The Flyover in a very small group of media startups, many of which never reach profitability at all.

There are three primary ways investors may realize a return:

1️⃣ A Sale
A larger media company or strategic partner could acquire The Flyover. If that day comes, we'd only consider partners who respect our values and our readers.

2️⃣ A Public Listing
While we're private today, a future public listing would give investors the ability to buy and sell shares on an open market.

3️⃣ Profit Distributions (Dividends)
Because The Flyover is already profitable, unlike most startups, distributions are a real possibility as the business continues to grow.

To recap:
1. Sale. 2. Listing. 3. Distributions.

Now, the most important part.

This investment round closes tomorrow. Not days. Hours.

Once it closes, it's closed.

If you've been considering investing; if you've been watching from the sidelines, this is your final opportunity to join us as an owner of The Flyover.

Final hours. Final spots. This is it.

Article Icon 1Hanover Board Opposes ICE Facility

The Hanover County Board of Supervisors opposed a plan by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to convert a warehouse in Ashland into an Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing center. Hundreds of residents—most of them opposed to the facility—packed a meeting on Wednesday night.

"The board hopes that DHS will not proceed with the acquisition, and sincerely hopes that they will look for a more suitable location for this type of operation," the board said in a statement after the meeting.

Hanover County cannot block the project if DHS moves ahead. The federal government had given county officials 30 days to respond to a notice it sent on Jan. 22 about plans to use the warehouse.

The warehouse is located within an area zoned for commercial and industrial use. The board's chairman said that creating a processing facility that could hold as many as 1,500 prisoners there "is not consistent with the established land use for this business, residential, and commerce area."

Article Icon 1Democrats' Bills Target ICE Raids

A House of Delegates committee plans to hold hearings next week on proposed bills that would prevent federal law enforcement officers from making immigration arrests in some state-operated facilities. Those would include hospitals, schools, courthouses, and other locations designated by the attorney general.

"Ultimately, our responsibility as legislators is to ensure the public safety of Virginians, and we're gonna do what we need to do, pass legislation we need to pass to ensure their public safety," Del. Marcus Simon told reporters.

He did not explain whether the proposals would violate the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, which gives federal laws precedence over state laws.

Republican leader Terry Kilgore said the House should focus on affordability, "not political games like gerrymandering, not political games like fighting with D.C."

Article Icon 1Another Winter Storm Approaches

Forecasters warned that a major storm, called a bomb cyclone, could dump snow across the southern half of the Commonwealth this weekend.

A winter storm watch stretches east from Lexington through Richmond and on to Tappahannock and covers all points south. Several inches are expected before the storm moves off on Sunday.

Officials in Virginia Beach said they are ready for the storm, with 29 plows and five brine trucks standing by.

Some neighborhoods are still not plowed out from last weekend's snow and ice storm, and cold temperatures have prevented much melting. In the Salem district, VDOT rolled out heavy-duty machines known as motor graders to smash up heavy ice that plows can't move.
