A South Carolina Judge’s ruling that Eastern District of Virginia U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan’s appointment was invalid—and the implications of that decision. The split within MAGA that has Marjorie Taylor Greene at odds with Donald Trump, and the interest in whether anyone else will follow in her footsteps. The latest on the Epstein Files, the scheduled release of files by DOJ to Congress, and the likelihood that it will actually happen. Trump’s attacks on, and the military and FBI investigations into, the six Democrats who reminded service and intelligence community members that their oaths forbid them from following illegal orders. If you don’t already know Jay, you’re in for a treat. Like me, he’s a former appellate litigator, but he’s also a lot more. Jay is a Broadway composer and Tony-winning producer, and the author of The Status Kuo substack, which he calls “a daily distillation of our chaotic legal and political world.” Jay is also the chair-elect of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s oldest civil rights organization serving the LGBTQ+ community with over 3.5 million members nationwide, a group that was an essential partner when I was the U.S. Attorney in Birmingham and that continues to do great work in Alabama and more hospitable parts of the country.
