PASSAGE OF THE WEEK:
Wisdom might be hard to define but one thing we can all agree on is that no one is born with it. Wisdom is cultivated. Wisdom, as we have been saying, takes work!
In a recent video on the Daily Stoic YouTube channel, Ryan Holiday shares what the Stoics believed prevent an individual from acquiring wisdom:
"Experience doesn't necessarily translate into wisdom, does it? We've all met people who refuse to learn life's lessons. We've all met people who remain remarkably naïve and immature despite their age."
In a recent episode of The Daily Stoic Podcast, Ryan Holiday speaks with longtime research assistant, Billy Oppenheimer, to look back on how the Stoic Virtues Series came together, from the first hike where the idea was born to the final chapter of Wisdom Takes Work.
"One of the reasons I wanted to save the wisdom book for last in the series is that I just thought who I would be five years later, I would have more to say about it … Weirdly, it's turned out every book in the Virtue series has been exactly the book that I needed to be thinking about in that moment."
