Fans Gather for Temporary Sendoff

The party is already underway in Jacksonville, Florida, for this weekend's Georgia-Florida college football game, set to move to Atlanta next year and Tampa, Florida, in 2027.

"It's not going to be the same," fan Rusty Shortridge said of the temporary venue changes. "When both schools get together, all their fans can have a good time. It's just something different about this. Everybody cooks out together, has a good time together."

The game—played mostly in Jacksonville since 1933—will return in 2028 following renovations to EverBank Stadium, also the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars pro football team.

No. 5 Georgia is favored by 7.5 points in this year's matchup that kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Florida goes into the game with an interim coach after firing Billy Napier.

Halloween Spirit Alive Despite Ranking

A report ranked Georgia No. 30 among states for trick-or-treating and other Halloween fun, citing low walkability, safety concerns, and lukewarm interest in the holiday.

Many in the Peach State would disagree, including the northwest Georgia town of Cave Spring, where coffin races, a Halloween parade, and a festive—and walkable—downtown await visitors.

Along with the Halloween fun, "There is nothing like visiting in the fall as the leaves are changing and the air gets more crisp," Cave Spring flower shop owner Emilia Jackson said.

Across the state, police urge families to trick-or-treat safely, recommending walking neighborhoods between 5:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., using reflective gear, and checking candy before eating.

Heisman Buzz Grows

With quarterback Haynes King now a Heisman Trophy contender, No. 8 Georgia Tech travels to North Carolina State for a primetime matchup on Saturday night.

The Yellow Jackets are favored to stay unbeaten and extend the team's best start since 1966.

The accolades for King are well deserved, according to Georgia Tech coach Brent Key.

"Find me someone that brings more value to the team and is truly the epitome of what the team is rooted in... It would be a shame if he is not in New York" for the award ceremony, Key said.
