I’ve been telling people this all week. You should do yourself a huge favor and buy my friend Marissa Rothkopf’s brand-new book, The Secret Life of Chocolate Chip Cookies. She’s a genius baker. Normally, that would be all you would need to know.

But she’s also smart about politics, and democracy, and the moment we live in. In her podcast, The Secret Life of Cookies, she combines her life of baking and her knowledge about what’s happening in our country in unique and delightful ways. Her guests have run the gamut from The Contrarian’s Norm Eisen to comedian Kathy Griffin. She’s as comfortable with them as she is with foodie icons like Mollie Katzen and Rose Levy Beranbaum. One of my favorite things about Marissa is that she understands that our joy in life matters at a moment like this, and I’m delighted to get to share her with you tonight after the hard work of democracy that we’ve been doing all week.
