In 2006, I sketched a diagram on a napkin…
I thought I invented something brilliant…
…but I was WRONG (sort of).
Back then, my business was growing, but I was flying blind and burning cash faster than I could make it.
Leads were coming in…
…sales were happening…
…but I couldn't tell you how or why, and I was running out of time and money.
In a moment of panic (and mild intoxication), I grabbed a pen and a bar napkin and asked a simple question:
"How do customers happen here?"
I mapped the whole process…
Every ad.
Every page.
Every email.
Every click, opt-in, call, and sale.
I called it a Growth Engine…
…and for a while, I thought I was a genius.
Until someone said, "Oh… that's just business process mapping."
(Apparently, if I had gone to business school, I would've known that.)
But you know what?
Ignorance is freeing.
Because I didn't follow a bloated framework, I didn't make it harder than it needed to be.
Today, that napkin sketch has evolved into the core operating system we use to help 7 and 8-figure founders scale without chaos.
What started as a personal survival tactic has become the single most valuable asset I build in every business I own.
These days, I've swapped out the napkin for a whiteboard and sticky notes, but the tools are still super simple.
Because simple scales.
