Just chickens tonight. Because after the Supreme Court’s banger yesterday, we all deserve the night off. My friend Virginia brought over a watermelon, and the chickens are totally here for it, including Leeda, the queen of side-eye. She was joined by friends. That’s Omeleta on the left and Pumpkin in front. The way the chickens love watermelon is second to nothing else in their lives, and it’s endless fun to watch them. Toot looks like a Renaissance painting here! I catch the chickens in these still-life poses now and then and feel like I understand the motivation that underlies so much great art. Sadly, I lack artistic talent. But I do have big plans this week to get creative and build the chickens (it will probably do double duty for the dogs too), a little water hazard, and fill it up with ice to help them stay nice and cool in the sultry little heat wave we’re experiencing. Hope you’re finding ways to stay cool too. We’re in this together, Joyce You're currently a free subscriber to Civil Discourse with Joyce Vance . For the full experience, upgrade your subscription. |
