Iranian state media confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed on Saturday in a joint U.S.-Israeli air campaign. Reports also said his daughter, son-in-law, grandchild, and daughter-in-law died in the strikes. U.S. and Israeli officials confirmed Khamenei’s death earlier in the day after photographs of his body were shown to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel also said the airstrikes on Khamenei’s fortified compound eliminated more than 40 senior Iranian security and regime figures. Iran fired dozens of missiles at Israel and launched strikes on U.S. military bases across the Middle East, including in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, in retaliation. President Trump described the operation as the opening phase of a campaign to devastate Iran’s military, dismantle its nuclear program, bring about regime change, and urged Iranians to “seize control of your destiny.” According to Israel officials, “Operation Epic Fury” has been in the works for the past several months, highlighting what appears to be the Israel Defense Forces’ close cooperation with the U.S. | Pentagon Bans Some Colleges for Military The Pentagon will forbid members of the military from attending Columbia, Yale, Brown, and other universities beginning with the 2026-27 school year. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said on Friday that the universities had replaced "the study of victory and pragmatic realism with the promotion of wokeness and weakness." In a video posted on social media, Hegseth said he would direct a formal “top to bottom” review of the U.S. war colleges to ensure they are “once again bastions of strategic thought, wholly dedicated to the singular mission of developing the most lethal and effective leaders and war fighters the world has ever known.” War colleges provide professional military education to high-ranking officers, Pentagon civilians, and international partners, with a focus ranging from joint operations to national security and strategy. | List: Most Popular States for Migration South Carolina topped a list of the most desirable states among people considering a move. The top 10 states included six in the South, two in the West, and one each in the Midwest and Northeast. Six offer coastal areas, including on the Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific coasts. In the mid-20th century, roller rinks were a pillar of American recreation: big, bright rooms where teens flirted under fluorescent lights, families spent weekends, and whole communities gathered for lessons, leagues, and charity nights. Skating became a mainstream pastime—part sport, part social club, part inexpensive escape. Then came the late-’70s glow-up: roller disco. DJs, mirror balls, light shows, short shorts, and the swagger of skating-to-the-beat turned rinks into nightlife. Movies, music, and celebrity scenes made skating look like the coolest thing you could do without a fake ID. But trends turn. Disco cooled, and rinks ran into a pileup of practical problems, as this video outlines. Land values rose, making redevelopment tempting. New competitors—arcades, multiplexes, malls, then home entertainment—pulled attention indoors in different ways.
