Article Icon 12.8% Minimum Wage Hike Coming

Ohio will raise the minimum wage for non-tipped workers to $11 an hour in 2026, an increase of 2.8%. Wages for tipped employees will rise to $5.50 an hour.

The change is the result of a 2006 voter-approved constitutional amendment that pegs annual minimum wage rate hikes to inflation. The increases will take effect Jan. 1, 2026.

For businesses with annual gross receipts of $405,000 or less—and for 14- and 15-year-old workers—the minimum wage will remain at the federal minimum of $7.25 per hour.

Article Icon 1Moreno Presses Intel

Ohio U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno urged Intel to temporarily free some of its power supply to aid another manufacturer coming to New Albany, the new Meta plant.

Moreno also called for Intel to provide an update on its repeatedly delayed semiconductor factory in New Albany, to ensure the state's taxpayers "are not being taken advantage of."

Intel announced in July that it would slow construction of its New Albany plant, originally scheduled to come online in 2025. The latest timeline calls for completion in 2031.

Meta plans to open the world's first 1-gigawatt data center in New Albany, expected to come online next year.

Article Icon 1Archdiocese and Girl Scouts End Dispute

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati renewed its partnership with Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, nearly a year after cutting ties over the scouts' views on gender and other issues.

Archbishop Robert Casey announced the group will again be allowed on Catholic campuses, saying, "Girl Scouts is a secular organization and as such, they do not share all of our views."

A memorandum of understanding by the two groups recognizes that the partnership does not indicate an endorsement of the other's policies and programs.
