Windstorm, Nix Sidelined, and Dinosaur Bones

From the Founder's Desk:

Why I Want The Flyover Readers to Own The Flyover

When I decided to accept investors in The Flyover, one thing mattered to me more than anything: that our readers would have the chance to become our owners. If I had my druthers, every single investor in The Flyover would be a Flyover reader. That's why we've structured this offering with you in mind:

  • Bonus shares for all The Flyover readers who invest

Legally, the offering is open to any U.S. citizen. But my heart—and our strategy—are focused on keeping ownership in the hands of our readers. Right now, we're less than $84,000 away from hitting $4 million raised—80% full. Once we cross that mark and announce our final investment date, I expect the final 20% to be filled.

That's why I'm asking our readers one more time: will you consider investing in The Flyover today?

This is the final month to invest.

But some of our readers are asking: "How do I get a return on my investment?"

Here's why The Flyover is different:

  • Already profitable after just two years (most start-ups never are)

  • 80% gross margins and 24% net income (exceptional margins)

  • In the top 1% of media start-ups (proven strength)

How investors could realize returns:

  1. A Sale—Only to a partner who shares our values. (CNN or The New York Times need not apply.)

  2. Public Listing—Shares traded openly on an exchange.

  3. Profit Distributions (Dividends)—Because we're already profitable, this is possible.

Recap: Sale. Listing. Distributions.

My Closing Pitch

More than 2,600 Flyover readers have already joined us as investors. We're just $84,000 away from our next milestone—and once we hit it, we will announce our closing date. If you've been considering investing, now is the moment. Will you help us finish this round and together make The Flyover a news company truly owned by its readers?

Will you be one of the final investors who helps us keep The Flyover fully reader-owned?

A Friday windstorm with gusts nearing 80 mph caused widespread disruptions across northern and eastern Colorado, including parts of the Front Range, where Xcel Energy proactively shut off power to around 9,000 customers.

In addition to the outages, safety concerns led to several road closures, including Interstate 25 north of Fort Collins. In Lakewood, high winds pushed a semi-trailer off C-470 and partly into Little Soda Lake.

A grass fire in Sedgwick County triggered evacuation orders but was quickly contained. A semi-truck driver was charged in connection with the blaze after a video showed his truck throwing sparks.

Xcel restored power to all customers impacted by the planned shutoffs by about 9:30 p.m. Friday, the utility said in a Saturday update.

Article Icon 1Snowpack Woes Continue

At just 62% of the median snowpack for this time of year, Colorado is experiencing its lowest level ever recorded for this point in the season, raising long-term drought, wildfire, and water supply concerns.

According to Denver Water, roughly 80% of Colorado's household and agricultural water supply comes from snow, making each year's snowpack vital. A weak snowpack can also heighten wildfire risk as landscapes dry out earlier.

The unusually dry, warm winter has led to cancellations of weather-dependent events across the state. Ski areas have also suffered, with Vail Resorts reporting a 20% year-over-year drop in visitors.

Despite the poor start, experts say recovery is still possible. Snowpack typically peaks in early April, leaving almost three months for conditions to improve.

Article Icon 1Broncos Head to Championship, Lose Nix

Roughly an hour after the Denver Broncos clinched a dramatic 33-30 overtime victory against the Bills, securing their spot in the AFC Championship, Coach Sean Payton delivered the news that quarterback Bo Nix suffered a season-ending injury late in the game.

Nix was tackled for a loss of 2 yards on a designed run in overtime and fractured his ankle. The fracture requires surgery, and Nix will miss the rest of the postseason.

Backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who started two games for the Broncos in 2023, will start the AFC Championship game. "He's ready," Payton said of Stidham.

The Broncos will face the New England Patriots in the championship game Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High. The winner will advance to the Super Bowl.
