Backed by a recent ~$4.6m funding round, Dripl has lofty ambitions to wipe 1B single-use cups from the planet — and, equally as important, keep you hydrated while gossiping around the office water cooler. NEWS FLASH Another round: Las Vegas's Sphere has become a hot ticket and now, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has announced a smaller, 6k-seat Sphere planned for the National Harbor in Maryland near Washington, D.C. Developers estimate it could have an economic impact of $1B+ annually and create 4.7k+ jobs. Safer scans: BioticsAI received FDA clearance for its AI software, which analyzes fetal ultrasounds for potential defects. CEO Robhy Bustami told TechCrunch that while ultrasounds are commonly used to monitor pregnancies, low-quality images can result in misdiagnosis. Absolutely beaming: Overview Energy used a laser to beam energy from an aircraft at ~16.4k feet above ground to solar panels in Pennsylvania. Not just for fun (though it was probably fun?), but to demo its plan to use satellites to beam energy from the sun to Earth, fueling solar farms even at night. Cow cognition: Veronika, an Austrian cow, has been observed using sticks to scratch herself. Why should you care? It indicates that cows — like crows and dolphins — can use tools, and are smarter than once believed. Know your numbers   THE BIG IDEA Estate planning is fintech's next frontier    Estate planning is no longer confined to dusty offices with three last names on the door — entrepreneurs are giving it a digital makeover.    Fintech startups are racing to modernize responsibilities like drafting wills and setting up trusts: Trust & Will launched EstateOS — an AI-supported legacy planning platform that transforms static documents into adaptable plans.  Childfree Trust offers a subscription-based fiduciary platform to support the growing base of childless Americans.   Eazewell, a startup co-founded by NBA stars Russell Westbrook and Kemba Walker, uses AI to aid end-of-life planning (for people, not basketball careers).  Estate planning is crucial. No one wants to fight over money while grieving, but few have their affairs in order: Only 31% of Americans have a will, and 55% have no estate plan at all, according to a 2025 survey by Trust & Will.    Why is that?   Conventional estate planning can be inconvenient and expensive. And it traditionally leans on kids' involvement, so it's struggled to keep pace with emerging trends and demographic shifts — including longer lifespans and more child-free adults.  We're also on the cusp of the largest generational wealth transfer in history.  An estimated $124T is expected to be inherited between 2024 and 2048. That means an unfathomable amount of wealth is about to pass through an inaccessible legacy process — AKA the kind of situation entrepreneurs dream of.    There are still skeptics   AI always raises concerns over accuracy, but that's especially relevant in estate planning. NEWSWORTHY NUMBER Nightly rate for a two-story suite aboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises' forthcoming ship, due to launch in December. The new offering — which Regent claims will be the largest all-inclusive, ultraluxe cruise ship suite to ever exist — includes a private massage room, an ocean-facing bar, and a butler, and has already been booked for at least six of the first 13 voyages, per The Wall Street Journal.  Like airlines, cruise operators have been expanding their first-class offerings to meet growing consumer demand for more extravagant, exclusive experiences. The luxury cruise travel market has tripled in size since 2010, according to Cruise Lines International Association, with the number of passengers expected to hit ~1.3m this year, up from 310k in 2021.
