| A new year is the perfect time to design new offers that don't require you to be "on" 24/7. That's not my opinion, either—it's science. Behavioral scientists call it the "Fresh Start Effect" because people are more motivated to take action to improve their life—or business—during a "fresh start" like a new year. So yeah, the timing is right to build something new. But assuming you want to build a scalable offer that *actually* sells (rather than wasting weeks on something no one wants—again), choosing what to make is overwhelming. There are just so many options… Some people swear that online courses are the path to riches. Others promise that launching a community or simple app is the answer. While others say productized services, enabled by AI, are the future. The truth is they're all right and wrong. Why? Because the best offer is the one that works for *you*, *your* business, and *your* buyers. So how do you cut through the noise? *rolls up sleeves* Here are 3 hard-earned pieces of wisdom I've learned that helped me make millions: 1. Start with the pain—not the format Instead of basing your offer on what YOU want to sell—like a Notion template or group membership—you need to identify the PROBLEM that buyers are desperately trying to solve. Then work backwards to design a solution. When I created Offer Breakthrough, I didn't start with "I wanna create a hands-on workshop." I started with "Entrepreneurs are pouring their heart and soul into offers that flop because they don't know what buyers really need." Then I considered what a solution might look like. I knew they didn't want a 6-week course bloated with hour-long video lessons to fix that problem. They're busy AF and need something they can finish ASAP—preferably in a single afternoon. And that's how the 4-hour workshop format was created. 2. Figure out the right problem to solve All problems are *not* created equally. Some problems are merely annoying, like a pebble stuck to the bottom of your shoe. You'll grimace, maybe limp for a bit… but you'll just pick it out yourself. No one's paying $7,500 to fix that. But some problems are deeply painful and expensive. Like a business owner wasting 20 hours/week on $50/hour tasks because she can't figure out which roles to hire first. And if you can solve a problem like that? Buyers will happily pay you premium prices. 3. Don't guess—test A mistake I see A LOT of entrepreneurs make is assuming people will buy their offer 'cause it sounds hella good written out in their Notes app. Bulletproof, some might say. But then when they try to actually sell it… well… Always make sure there's demand for your offer before you go all-in to build it out. That can look like reaching out to past clients and asking if they'd be interested in trying your new service at a beta price. Or simply posting to social media, prompting readers to join the waitlist for your new digital product. Don't assume you need a big, flashy launch to promote your new offer. I've made millions of dollars on offers I first promoted with a simple Google Doc sales page, like this one: Ok. Now, those are the 3 things you should do to design a scalable offer that actually sells. But there's something you need to avoid at all costs. *drum roll, please* The #1 thing to never do when designing a scalable offer is… Blindly following the popular advice to "niche down." Don't waste weeks defining whether you wanna serve "female coaches in their 40s" or "B2B SaaS founders with 10 employees." Instead, find a profitable problem worth solving. Because the truth is that people don't buy things because of WHO they are. They buy things because they have painful PROBLEMS to solve. Just look at Slack. They didn't niche down with "project management software for fully remote tech startups with under 50 employees." They lead with "email chains are killing productivity and important messages get buried. Get your whole team on the same page instantly." This is an approach I call Problem-Upping (which I'll teach you in Offer Breakthrough). The result? Slack was acquired for $27.7 billion and is used by millions across every industry. Bottom line: Lead with the painful, expensive problem you're uniquely qualified to solve—not personas or formats. Start there, and you'll be on your way to designing offers people happily open their wallets for. With ♥️, P.S.
