Florida Congressman Assaulted at Sundance

A man was arrested Friday night after allegedly assaulting and threatening two people, including U.S. Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost, a Florida Democrat, at a private Sundance Film Festival event in Park City, Utah.

Frost said the man yelled a racial slur and then punched him in the face. Witnesses reported that the man said to Frost and a friend, "We are going to deport you and your kind."

According to police, the suspect, 28-year-old Christian Joel Young, entered an invitation-only event at High West Distillery, allegedly carried out the assault, and was then detained by security before officers arrived. Prosecutors are reviewing the case for potential hate-crime charges.

Weather Rollercoaster Continues

Florida could see record-breaking heat before temperatures plunge dramatically early this week as a powerful cold front sweeps through the state.

Orlando may reach 86 degrees, potentially matching the record set in 2023, while Miami's daily heat record of 85 degrees will be challenged today. Melbourne, Sanford, and Leesburg also have the potential to break record highs.

The cold front that has caused travel chaos across the country arrived late Sunday night. A freeze watch has been issued for parts of Central Florida, where overnight lows Monday into Tuesday could reach the mid to upper 30s, with areas north of Orlando potentially falling below freezing.

South Florida will wake up to temperatures in the lower to mid-50s Tuesday morning, with the chill lasting through the weekend.
