Mayor Mike Johnston's office confirmed Friday that Denver has submitted a bid to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention (DNC).

The convention will determine the party's nominee for the 2028 presidential election, following President Trump's second term. Denver last hosted the DNC in 2008, when Barack Obama won the party's nomination.

The 2008 DNC brought in $154 million for Denver and $266 million for the broader metro area. Chicago, host of the 2024 DNC, estimated its economic impact at $371 million.

Denver joins other hopefuls, including New Orleans and San Antonio, in its push to host the DNC. The host city is expected to be announced in early 2027.

Article Icon 1 Morphew Pleads Not Guilty

Barry Morphew, a Chaffee County man long suspected in the 2020 disappearance of his wife, Suzanne, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder Monday.

This is the second attempted prosecution of Morphew for his wife's murder. He was initially arrested in 2021, but charges were dropped the next year due to prosecutorial issues.

Investigators found Suzanne's remains in 2023. An autopsy later linked her death to BAM—a strictly regulated animal tranquilizer to which Morphew had access—leading to his arrest last June. See a timeline here.

The trial is set for Oct. 13. Prosecutors have listed Morphew's daughters, Mallory and Macy, as potential witnesses, though both have supported him since Suzanne's disappearance.

Summit's inaugural match is slated for March 28 at Empower Field at Mile High. Heaps will join the team this June after finishing her contract with French powerhouse Olympique Lyonnais.
