The Comey indictment is a dangerously serious development. We discussed why that importance may not be as apparent to non-lawyers/non-prosecutors as it is to those of us who have worked in the justice system, and how best to understand it and explain it to others. Having these conversations is one of the most important things we can do right now, so that Americans can properly assess where we are, while there is still time to do something about it. As for the threat to send troops into Portland, Trump, who failed to make good on his threat against Chicago, issued two executive orders this week in an attempt to give himself the power to go on the offensive against anyone who disagrees with him. He’s trying that out in Portland. But Portland is going to fight back in its own unique way. A friend in Portland shared this with me.
