I’m pretty sure the chickens missed me while I was gone. They had food and water, even treats. They left their coop to forage during the day. My German Shepherd, Bella, kept an eye on them, I’m told, and there were no problems. But they still seemed excited to see me that first morning, and they’ve come running towards me every day since. Today I decided they deserved a treat, so I popped popcorn and was rewarded with instant popularity. Everyone wanted to get close enough to eat out of my hand. Nothing else this week has gone quite as well as reuniting with the henhouse. It has been another difficult week in America. But I decided we’d take tonight off and refresh ourselves a bit, with a distraction of chickens. Tomorrow, we’ll return to the serious discussion of what Trump is doing in the District of Columbia and Friday’s hearing in front of Judge Reyes. Sometimes we need a little peace, and I think this is one of those nights. Let me know what you’re up to as we enter the weekend and whether you have plans to join in the “Fight the Takeover” protests tomorrow.
