Sunday morning at 10 ET/9 CT/7 PT, I’ll be having coffee with my friend and former DOJ colleague Mary McCord and you’re invited to join us on Substack Live. You may recognize Mary from MSNBC. She served in the National Security Division during the Obama administration and is a prosecutor’s prosecutor. She has been shepherding impact litigation as the Executive Director of the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection (ICAP) since early in the first Trump administration. She sued white supremacists and private militias that attended the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017. After the Supreme Court ruled that plaintiffs could no longer obtain nationwide injunctions to restrain the Trump administration’s illegal actions, Mary obtained one of the first class certifications designed to block that conduct in a birthright citizenship case. We could spend all of our time together talking about the important cases Mary is working on right now. But because she is a resident of the District of Columbia and has special expertise with the issues triggered by Donald Trump’s efforts to take over law enforcement in the District, I’m looking forward to hearing her views on current events there. I hope you’ll pour a cup of coffee and join us. If you have questions you’d like us to address, please leave them in the comments.
