 | Sunday, June 22, 2025 | | Good Morning! On this day in 1944, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Servicemen's Readjustment Act, otherwise known as the G.I. Bill, into law, providing World War II veterans with funds for college education, unemployment insurance, and housing. In the 1940s and 1950s, artists and designers imagined what the future might look like. Their depictions were a bit naive – but also optimistic. See their innovative ideas below. Speaking from the White House, Trump said the strikes were aimed at ending Iran's nuclear threat and warned of "far greater" attacks if Iran does not "make peace." U.S. military aircraft bombed Iran's Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear sites, using at least six bunker busters on Fordow, buried nearly 300 feet beneath a mountain. Trump declared the facility was "completely and totally obliterated." Saturday's bombing followed Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites and Iran firing hundreds of missiles across Israel. Officials confirmed that Trump approved attack plans Tuesday but wanted to pursue negotiations first. The Trump administration explored a backchannel meeting with Iran in Istanbul, brokered by Turkey's president as a last-ditch effort, but Tehran refused direct talks unless Israel halted its attacks. | Dangerous Heat Moves Across U.S. A heat wave will bring life-threatening temperatures to nearly 100 million people from the Midwest to the Northeast, starting Sunday and lasting through midweek. The expected surging heat, intense sunshine, and high humidity may leave Midwest and Northeast residents unprepared after a year of mild temperatures. Heat indices near 104 degrees are forecast in Nashville, Tennessee, and Louisville, Kentucky, on Sunday and Tuesday. Daily record highs are possible from Detroit to Raleigh, North Carolina, to Boston on Monday and Tuesday. Hot and humid days can be dangerous when the body is unable to cool itself off and can exacerbate pre-existing health conditions, potentially leading to heat stroke. | Twins Take Center Stage at Graduation A high school graduation ceremony in the suburbs of New York City will double down on twins on Sunday when 15 sets of siblings receive their diplomas. In the class of nearly 500 students at Long Island's Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School, 30 are twins. Many have known each other since kindergarten, their parents meeting through a local twins club. All 15 sets are fraternal twins. There are two sets of twins that include both a Josh and a Rebecca, and 14 of the 15 sets are headed to different universities. Enjoy reading The Flyover?
