The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said Wednesday it will reduce air traffic by 10% across 40 "high-volume" airports, including Denver International Airport (DIA), beginning today.

The cutback aims to maintain travel safety during the government shutdown, now the longest on record, by relieving pressure on unpaid and understaffed air traffic controllers.

DIA also said Wednesday it's seeking the FAA's permission to pay air traffic controllers using airport revenue, with plans to be reimbursed later. The airport has also set up a food and essentials pantry for its federal workers.

Airlines say they'll try to minimize customer impact amid the last-minute overhaul, which could affect up to 1,800 flights per day.

Article Icon 1Soliman Pleads Not Guilty

Mohamed Soliman, the man accused of firebombing pro-Israel demonstrators in Boulder on June 1, pleaded not guilty to 184 state charges on Wednesday.

The charges include first-degree murder and dozens of counts of attempted first-degree murder. Fifteen people were injured in the attack, and one, 82-year-old Karen Diamond, later died from her injuries.

In police interviews, Soliman said he had planned the attack for a year and purposely targeted Run for Their Lives, a group calling for the release of Israeli hostages.

Soliman had already pleaded not guilty to federal hate crime charges. His trial in state court is scheduled to begin in July 2026, soon after his federal trial in June 2026.

The Denver Broncos on Wednesday submitted preliminary plans for the team's new stadium at Burnham Yard, slated to open for the 2031 season.

The plans, while mostly conceptual, include a map placing the stadium on the west side of the site, with restaurants, retail space, entertainment venues, and more in the surrounding area.

According to the development draft, the 150-acre project will also rely on $140 million in city-funded improvements to nearby infrastructure, part of the Vibrant Denver bond package approved this week.

The first open house for community input on the project will take place Nov. 19. The Broncos also launched a new website to keep fans updated.
